Department of Cultural Affairs to Host Glitter: A Holiday Shopping Event

Are your holiday gifts getting a little too, well, Gap-tastic? Forgo the gift card this year, and look for truly unique presents at Glitter, the Department of Cultural Affairs' holiday shopping event. (And not the Mariah Carey masterpiece of the same name.) The free event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 on the second floor of the Chicago Cultural Center.

Local jewelry, accessories and fashion designers such as Dollybird Design, 1154 Lill Studio and K.Amato will set up shop to showcase their collections and special holiday items at the Cultural Center. Glitter is part of Mayor Daley's Fashion Initiative, which promotes Chicago's more than 250 working designers and some 400 independent fashion boutiques through various city-sponsored events and programs.
