The impromptu camp of pup tents growing outside Niketown on Michigan Avenue is becoming restless.
They want their Air Yeezys!
Chicago native Kanye West has come out with his Air Yeezys, an extremely limited line of Nikes -- and people are prepared to do just about anything to get their feet in a pair.
Here's Nike's take West's new shoe:
"West is known for his non-stop energy both on the stage and off so the Air Yeezy had to support and sustain West from start to finish. An almost obsessive focus was put on delivering supreme comfort throughout the development of the shoe. Equipped with debossed ankle collar pods for added support and protection, extra-thick sock liners, a forefoot support strap, original functional tension lace loops, and Phylon tooling taken from the 1987 Nike Air Assault for added performance and comfort—all developed and integrated with one goal in mind: to keep Kanye on lock down in cushioned comfort during his performances during his many notoriously strenuous artistic live performances."
The shoes are so popular, Google has blocked all searches on them, instead displaying a "forbidden" note on any searches that combine "Kanye" and "shoes." If you try to find out more about them, this is the message Google gives you:
"We're sorry ... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now."
In other words, tough luck, buttercup. You can type a code and get past the block, but info is very limited. The release date for Air Yeezys is Saturday, but rumor has it that the number of pairs available in Chicago will be very, very limited.
