Bagging Bargains on Bags

Local gal-about-town creates luxury online consignment shop

A woman can never have too many handbags. No, there is no reasoning or scientific facts to back it up, but that is simply the way it is.

But with designer bags costing upwards of thousands of dollars, it's a habit that can get a little out of control.

At least that’s what Chicago girl Barbara Conn was thinking when her collection of bags started to grow over the years and she started to consider ways to get the best of the bags for less from pricey designers like Chanel, Vuitton Gucci and Prada.

She realized that many women have a plethora of bags that just sit in their closets without getting use, but as they say, one woman's trash is another woman’s treasure -- especially when it's couture, so she created an online luxury consignment shop, Bag Ambition,  to make those coveted bags more accessible.

Bag Ambition purses come straight from the closets of well-to-do women all over the country -- women who've probably long since replaced that fall 2009 Prada hobo with a 2010 Summer edition.

We recently spied a Prada Pink Tessuto Nylon Bag for $275 (Original retail price: $600), and a Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Lexington Accessory Pouch for $300 (Original retail price: $740).

Many of the bags that land at Bag Ambition are barely even used, so they look brand-new without the sticker shock. They also come with an authenticity guarantee, so you can ensure your purchase is a Prada, not a Prado.
