Group to McDonald's: Retire Ronald

    Group to McDonald's: Retire Ronald

The group that pushed the death of Joe Camel is taking aim at Ronald McDonald.

It's got nothing to do with Coulrophobia -- the fear of clowns -- but rather the restaurant character's influence on children.

In a report to be released next Wednesday, a group called Corporate Accountability International, will hold retirement parties for the burger-loving clown at nearly two dozen McDonald's restaurants and colleges, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The group says that too often, Ronald McDonald is seen at schools at child-focused events in the midst of what they call a "fast-food-industry childhood obesity crisis."

The Oak Brook-based McDonald's says Ronald does a lot of good, like talking to kids and families about healthy lifestyle choices and being the face of the corporate charity.
