It's officially Alaskan halibut season, and Tin Fish, an acclaimed seafood restaurant located in south suburban Tinley Park, is celebrating by throwing its annual "Just for the Halibut" dining event from Friday, March 27 through Sunday, April 5.
Tin Fish executive chef Colin Turner has cooked up a special lunch and dinner menu highlighting this mild, flavorful white fish, which he will prepare in a variety of ways. (And, FYI for you eco-minded foodies out there: The Environmental Defense Fund has deemed Pacific halibut as an "Eco-Best" choice, but note that prices and items may change due to product availability and fishing conditions.)
The "Just for the Halibut" menu will feature an Alaskan halibut and wild baby leek chowder ($4.25 for a cup, $5.25 for a bowl); a poached Alaskan halibut salad with shaved spring vegetables and baby spinach in a lemon-and-toasted fennel vinaigrette ($6.99); halibut-and-avocado ceviche with cilantro, lime and crispy tortillas ($7.99) and bacon-wrapped halibut loin with roasted sweet bell peppers and lemon-balsamic dressing ($8.99) for starter courses; and three different entrees: a roasted garlic and mustard-crusted halibut with crispy roasted "smashed" potatoes in a lemon-butter sauce ($21.99), a herb-encrusted halibut T-bone with mashed potatoes and fresh herb oil ($29.99), and a take on surf & turf featuring grilled halibut and a veal NY strip with wild mushroom hash browns and natural au jus ($24.99).
