Playboy Ranks Chicago's Meat

Local joint makes magazine’s Top Ten list

Having already appeared on the Food Network, Kuma's Corner (2900 W Belmont Ave) has now been recommended by another reputable source of buns and fresh meat: Playboy magazine.

Playboy names what it considers to be the 10 best burger joints in America in its June issue.

Among its sexy meats are the hefty half-pound burgers at Kuma's Corner in Avondale. The magazine enjoys the dishes named after metal bands, including the Dark Throne (chipotle peppers, goat cheese, pico de gallo), the Melvins (basil, prosciutto, mozzarella), and Motorhead (goat cheese, kalamata olives, oregano). However, they consider the Kuma to be "a masterpiece."

Playboy, oddly enough, seems to emphasize the family-friendliness of the restaurant, telling readers to "get past the ear-splitting music and cartoonishly raunchy bathrooms."

Somehow, we can't imagine Playboy would have a problem with skin-revealing art.

Matt Bartosik, editor of Off the Rocks' next issue, loves Kuma's food but not Kuma's lines.
