Have an “Aphrodisiac Affair”

Vermilion heats up your Valentine's Day dinner

Tired of the same-old, same-old Valentine's Day complete with the customary steak dinner, dozen red roses and box of chocolates?  (okay, maybe you'll never be tired of the candy, but you know what we're saying here.)  Why not spice things up with a dinner filled with aphrodisiac foods certain to get your Valentine in the mood before the check hits the table?

Vermilion Restaurant is touting their ''aphrodisiac affair'' Valentine's dinner available Feb. 13 through Feb. 15.  For $50 or $95 with wine pairings, enjoy a prix-fixe menu chock full of foods that will tickle the libido.

Start with oysters topped with your choice of champagne jelly, jalapeno cardamom foam, ginger caviar or broken vinaigrette. Passion fruit sweet potato soup follows, along with a fennel dusted tuna escabeche with pineapple, Kashmiri mirch chimmichuri, and then a peanut-sesame coconut encrusted filet mignon served with avocado fritters in a fig wine reduction.  Finally, top off the meal with the shahi tukra, a rich nut Indian spiced cake, if you're not tearing off each other's clothing by the time dessert arrives.

Call 312-527-4060 for reservations. Vermilion is located at 10 W. Hubbard St.
