All of your friends are dropping some serious cash to go to swanky, crowded New Year's Eve parties at hotels and clubs, and if they're not doing that, they're planning to indulge in some kind of pricey multi-course meal at an upscale restaurant. While you may pretend that you'd love to join them, you secretly want to do something a little more low-key. And what could be more low-key than noshing on sandwiches and beer?
Spend your New Year's Eve in Wicker Park with dinner at Jerry's. While the special menu does involve five courses, the main entrée is – what else – a sandwich. Choose from prime rib, lobster roll or French triple cream cheese, all on a brioche roll and paired with craft beers. $48 per person/$60 with matching beer flight. There are two seatings: 6:30/7 p.m. or 9:30/10 p.m. Grateful Dead cover band Scarlet Mountain will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight. Reservations are highly recommended; this event sold out last year.
