The world's best-known Surrealist artist, Salvador Dali, was a colorful character and unique figure in the art world whose work remains an enigma for many art aficionados.
He pioneered the Surreal style, in which he created a dreamlike world complete with commonplace objects portrayed in absurdist ways painted in a hyper-realist fashion.
You can get to know both the man and his artwork a bit better with a special "Artista Ba-Ba-Reeba!" dinner at Lincoln Park's Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! on Tuesday, March 10 at 6 p.m.
"What's So Great About Salvador Dali?" will feature a slide-illustrated presentation given by an Art Institute of Chicago lecturer exploring Dali's inimitable style.
You'll also get to celebrate Dali's Spanish heritage with a six-course tapas dinner paired with Spanish wines and sherries from Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! chef Tim Cottini.
Some highlights of the meal include a tasting of pintos such as citrus-cured salmon toast with tomato-caper relish and scallops with banana as the first course, and almond-poached pork belly and roasted rack of lamb with crisp eggplant, basil flan and roasted carrots as two of the subsequent courses.
