Thank goodness it's Friday. And thank goodness that spring is upon us. To celebrate both the beginnings of the new season and the end of the week, Sola restaurant is offering a free glass of wine to each guest who dines with reservations before 7 p.m. every Friday in April. Their award winning wine list offers 19 different glasses from which to choose. The offer is limited to one glass per person with a minimum $30 food purchase.
We like the artichoke fritters starter ($8), served with soy lime and white truffle honey sauces, the hoisin-mustard-panko crusted tuna entree served with bamboo rice, avocado tempura and drizzled with soy-wasabi buerre blanc ($27) and a side of the truffle parmesan fries ($8). Mmm.
Executive chef and owner Carol Wallack won the ''Best Potatoes'' prize by the Idaho Potato Commission at the Burger Bash hosted by Rachael Ray at the 2009 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival February 19-22 in Miami. Unfortunately her Wagyu burger didn't win the top burger prize, but if you want to decide for yourself if you think it should have won, come by at lunchtime for the famous $13 burger, topped with cambazola cheese, bacon, pineapple, caramelized onions and arugula on a pretzel roll, served with Asian slaw or fresh fruit. Sounds like a winner to us.
