Cookie fans can create the next flavor for Highland Park's Carol's Cookies

Carol's Cookies, the wildly popular cookie company out of Highland Park, is celebrating its 30th anniversary by letting fans submit and vote on the next Carol's Cookies flavor, which will join the likes of Oatmeal Chocolate Cherry, Brownie Cookie, Cinnamon Swirl, Toffee Crunch and, of course, Chocolate Chip (both with and without walnuts).

Cookie monsters can enter starting today through Aug. 12 via the Carol's Cookies Web site or through its Facebook Fan page, dubbed "Carol's Cookies Giant Cookie Club." After reviewing all of the entries, the Carol's team will choose five recipes to try out and perfect in its cookie factory. The five finalists' recipes will then be judged on Sept. 15. During the proceedings, celebrity judges, including Katrina Markoff of Vosges Haut-Chocolat, Marc Schulman of Eli's Cheesecake and Bryant Keil of Potbelly Sandwich Works, along with Carol's Cookies owner Carol Goldman, will sample the flavors and ultimately choose the next variety of Carol's Cookies.

Beyond bragging rights and public recognition through company press, the creator of the next flavor will receive a year's worth of Carol's Cookies and the chance to be a guest baker for two days at the cookie factory in Highland Park (along with travel and lodging). In what is sure to be a heated competition, the second and third place winners will receive six months and three months of free cookies respectively.
