Brunches That Rock: Ajasteak

The stylish Asian-inspired steakhouse introduces you to "Sunday School"

If your idea of brunch has to do with redeeming last night's sins against your stomach, Ajasteak's new "Sunday School" brunch is the place for you. The hipster hangout in the sleek Dana Hotel and Spa in River North is a stylish spot to keep the weekend rolling -- heck, you might even see some of the same club-goers as last night.

Settle into the contemporary surroundings of this Asian-inspired steakhouse, and let the (alcohol-induced) feast begin. Executive chef Joshua Linton knows how to cure what ails you -- with generous portions of comfort food and just enough alcohol to get you thinking (somewhat) clearly again. The impressive menu is divided between "Raw," "Greens," "Eggs," "XXXL Pancakes" and "Already Had Breakfast?" selections. Highlights include a salmon maki roll with mango, tobiko, avocado and lemon ($13); a Chinois chicken salad piled high with crunchy Napa cabbage, cashews and tangy sesame dressing ($12); eggs Benedict served with housemade English muffins, country ham and hollandaise ($12); gigantic 16-inch milk chocolate and caramelized banana pancakes topped with malted honey syrup and crushed hazelnut praline ($14); and a Waygu beef-and-truffle mash made with smoked bacon, pearl onions and button mushrooms ($17). Be sure to grab a bloody Mary or a mimosa from one of the rolling carts making their way enticingly through the dining room.

Ajasteak's "Sunday School" brunch is served from 11AM-3PM. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Dana Hotel and Spa at 660 N. State St., 312-202-6050.
