A Culinary Crawl

You've heard of a pub crawl -- this version is for fans of food (and drinks)

Jerry Kleiner and Howard Davis' KDK Restaurants group has a knack for creating perennially hot dining destinations. From Marche and Red Light on Randolph Street's Restaurant Row to Opera and Gioco in the new South Loop entertainment corridor, these places have some serious staying power. If you haven't tried one of KDK's places or haven't been in a while, the four restaurants will come together on Thursday, May 7 for a unique "crawl."

The evening of culinary adventure will kick off at fashionable-yet-friendly French bistro Marche at 6:30PM. Itinerant participants will then make the trip to Opera and Gioco on Wabash Street via trolley, which will then bring them back to Randolph Street at Red Light. The adventure will wrap up at 9:30PM.

Each restaurant, which represents a handful of different cuisines, will serve a signature cocktail and specialty dishes during the excursion. Marche will get things started with French martinis and gruyere beignets, mushrooms en croute and poisson croquette. You'll then travel to Asia through Opera's flavorful menu, including Singapore Slings paired with pork sui mi, shrimp dumplings and mushroom wontons. Next up is the Italian cuisine of Gioco, which will be offering a "South Side Cocktail," plus wild boar parpadelle, cured meats and imported cheeses. And, finally, you'll return to the West Loop and Asian dishes at Red Light, where you'll finish your journey with mango martinis and executive chef Jackie Shen's famous Chocolate Bag dessert.

The "KDK Crawl" is priced at $50 per person. Call Marche at 312-226-8399 to reserve your spot.
