Starbucks To Serve Liquor in Some Chicago Stores

Five to 7 premium locations to open in city by end of 2012

It could offer a new meaning to getting a little extra kick with your coffee.

Starbucks announced Monday that it will begin serving wine and beer at a handful of locations across the country, including Chicago.

Five to seven locations will be in place by the end of 2012, but the exact locations have not been revealed.

Along with the wine and beer selections, the stores will also offer a premium food menu, with items such as savory snacks, small plates and hot flatbreads.

The Starbucks stores will be extensions of a concept already in place in the Pacific Northwest with five stores in the Seattle area and one in Portland.

A handful of the stores will also open this year in Atlanta and Southern California.
