NBC reality show seeks designer contestants for next season's show

Will the next "Fashion Star" be from Chicago?

The NBC reality show is hosting a local casting call seeking designers to compete on its second season.

The open call will be held on July 22 at Macy's on State Street from 12-5 p.m. Designers will have the opportunity to meet with fashion consultants, buyers and casting producers and are asked to from five to 10 "ready-to-wear fashion forward articles of clothing that you personally designed and that best showcase your work." The show offers 14 unknown designers a multi-million dollar chance to launch their collections at Macy's, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Celebs Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos and Nicole Richie serve as mentors and the show is hosted by supermodel Elle McPherson,

Chicago designer Barbara Bates competed in the first season of the show, and although she didn't win, one of her pieces was picked up by Macy's.
