New Year's Parties on the Cheap

A cheap(er) way to celebrate the New Year

Since lack of funds seems to be a common theme this year, some restaurants and lounges are taking note and offering deals that won’t cost the traditional arm and leg.

Make a reso at the trendy Duchamp and get started on that New Year’s resolution to save some dollars. You’ll get a four-course meal while watching live footage from Times Square for a mere $49.
If you’re all about starting the evening early, you can save dollars at Nacional 27. The 5 p.m. dinner seating is a mere $45 (compared to the 8 p.m. seating for $95) and includes a 3-course Latin meal (think dishes like grilled seafood paella, gaucho marinated barbecue skirt steak, Pacific blue nose grouper "huachinango" style). A DJ will spin until until 2 a.m., and of course, there's a midnight champagne toast.
And for the bar-lover in you, head to Lumen’s Roaring 20s New Year’s Eve bash; it’ll be morphing into a 1920s speakeasy (minus the bootleg liquor) with an all-inclusive $55 package that includes an open bar and appetizer buffet from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
After all, you rarely remember the whole evening anyways, so why blow cash on it when you don’t have to?
