Weekend: Break Out the Ugly Sweaters

JUST FUGLY: It's that time of year to dig into your closet and uncover the most hideously ugly Christmas sweater you can find, because it’s time to party. GiveForward.org's annual Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl steps off Saturday at noon at Mad River Bar & Grille(2909 N Sheffield Ave.). The day of drinking continues to a number of top secret spots. A $30 wristband gets you $2-$3 drink specials at all the bars and all proceeds benefit Imerman Angels.

CUBS ON ICE: Hit Wrigleyville Saturday for the grand opening of the "The Rink at Wrigley." Cubs owner Tom Ricketts and pitcher Tom Gorzelanny will be on hand for the festivities, which kick off at 1 p.m. and include a free hour of open skate, plus, free coffee and hot chocolate. Skating costs $10 for adults and $6 for kids on the weekends and is half-price Monday through Thursday. (More information)

COOL RUNNINGS: Around 200 people are expected to strip down and participate in the Santa Speedo Run. The 1-mile run begin at 1 p.m. on Rush Street and finishes up on Michigan Avenue. Shenanigans (16 W. Division), is hosting the event. Doors open at 11a.m. for the 3-hour event. The $40 entry fee covers the open bar, snacks and a Santa hat, but keep in mind, it's strictly BYOS -- Bring Your Own Speedo.

CHECK THE LIST: A Silver Lining Foundation's 3rd Annual Naughty or Nice Party goes down Friday night at District Bar (170 W. Ontario) from 7-11 p.m. Fifty bucks gets you four hours of a premium open bar, appetizers and live entertainment by the band Sorry For Partying, which you won't be, because all of these proceeds benefit ASLF's Buy A Mom A Mammogram program .

GOT SOUL? The Windy City Soul Club celebrates its second anniversary Saturday night with what's sure to be another packed party at the Empty Bottle (1035 N. Western Ave). Doors open at 10 p.m., but you'll want to get there early for this always-packed event, with the DJ curators spinning the oddly-compelling mix of Northern Soul dusties they've uncovered.

GOT ROOTS? At least one member of the mighty mighty Roots crew will be in the house Saturday night when The Underground hosts the official after-party for the hip hop band's House of Blues Dare 2 Dream concert.
