Time to Get Social

New River North sports bar to hold official grand opening party

It seems like River North should be called "River Sport" with all of its recent sports bar openings.

If you haven't gotten your fix yet, check out the grand opening of Social Twenty-Five (25. W. Hubbard St.) on Thursday.

Their "official" grand opening features a live performance by The Karlz between 9 p.m. and midnight. This two-person band has toured with the likes of Beck, the Eagles, and the Verve Pipe. They cover songs from groups like Outkast, The White Stripes, Led Zeppelin, and many more.

DJ's are set to spin into the late night hours following the live band's set.

Insider Info: Social Twenty-Five has taken over the old high-fashion themed nightclub, Moda, so there is no more tough door staff or dress code to keep you from entering -- and definitely no furry-booted dancers. The only thing left over from Moda is its 4/5 a.m. liquor license! Yes, this is the first sports bar in the River North area that will stay open when all the others close down.
