The hotel noted for being one of the hottest places to see and be seen in the city received a double dose of love Wednesday.
Voting closed Tuesday for the Golden Local Debate on this Web site, seeking the Best Hotel Bar in the city. ROOF, theWit's popular rooftop lounge, snagged 58 percent of the vote up against The Trump Hotel's Rebar lounge.
Commenters on the debate page lauded ROOF for everything from its cool vibe, celebrity clientele and of course, the pretty ladies.
"These were two quality bars involved, but to have us come out on top in in the customers' minds is extremely gratifying," said theWit's GM Mark Shouger. "Everybody was really into it and excited. We were watching it every day and were happy to see the response."
TheWit also came up big against some hefty worldwide competition in TripAdvisor's 2010 Travelers' Choice awards. The State Street hotel was named the second trendiest hotel in the world, finishing one place behind citizenM in Amsterdam.
TripAdvisor also listed the Best Hotels in Chicago, based on great service and extraordinary value, naming The Talbot Hotel, Sofitel Chicago Water Tower and Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago as the tops, in that order.
"It's just overwhelming. To get this kind of exposure just six months after opening and getting our feet on the ground is extraordinary," Shouger said.
TripAdvisor compiles its lists from user reviews on its Web site.
