“The Office” Star Brings Stage Show to Chicago

Kate Flannery stars in "The Lampshades"

Chicago fans of "The Office" will get to see another side of one of it's quirky characters this weekend.

Kate Flannery, who plays Meredith on the NBC show, stars in the off-beat comedy lounge act "The Lampshades" Friday and Saturday at Mayne Stage (1328 W. Morse Ave.).

Flannery co-stars with Chicago actor Scot Robinson of "Anchorman" fame.

The show was originally conceived in Chicago in 1992 and has been playing in Hollywood for nine years at venues such as Improv Olympic West.

Flannery has a strong connection to Chicago, moving to the city after college and studying improv at The Second City and Improv Olympic.

The weekend's shows are part of Mayne Stage's Grand Opening Celebration Series.

Doors open at 7 p.m. both nights and tickets range from $10-$20. (773.381.4554)
