Put a cork in that whine -- with the current economic climate, there are plenty of deals to be had. You just need to know where to look (that's where we come in). D.O.C. Wine Bar's Lombard location (at the Shops on Butterfield) is rolling out new weekly wine and martini specials, sure to cure whatever ails you.
On Sundays, choose from D.O.C.'s list of red or white wine flights, which are all half priced. Interesting entries include "Jovial Juice," a collection of fun, upbeat white wines (usually priced at $16.50) and "Sexy Reds," a selection of wines to put you in the mood, including a syrah from Hitching Post, one of the wineries made famous in "Sideways." (The "Sexy" flight is usually $18.)
Mondays bring half-priced bottles of all wines at D.O.C., while Tuesdays offer half-priced glasses (contemplate how much you're planning on drinking, then choose your day accordingly). Wednesdays switch things up a bit with $6 specialty martinis (such as cosmos, the "007" with vodka or gin, chocolate, French and Manhattan).
