Chicago singer to perform at LaSalle Power Co.

Matthew Santos may not be a household name, but chances are you've heard his smooth-as-butter voice before. When Chicago hip hop kid Lupe Fiasco burst into the mainstream, he took along with him a hodgepodge of Chicago musicians, including Santos.

And when Fiasco's standout track, "Superstar," started burning up the airwaves, that was Santos's cool and calm voice crooning in the infectious chorus.

When Santos isn't busy touring with Fiasco and his crew, he keeps busy creating his own brand of music. It's more Jeff Buckley or Damian Rice and a far cry from hip hop, but his voice is still as rich and soulful as ever.

See what the buzz is all about when Santos takes the stage at LaSalle Power Co. (500 N LaSalle Blvd.) at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Insider Info: If you haven't checked out LaSalle Power Co., the massive new three-floor rock club, Santos' show is the perfect opportunity to do so. The decor is amazing, the staff some of the friendliest you'll meet, and the sound system is top notch. The comfort food with-a-twist inspired menu is tasty and the drinks aren't too shabby either. It's a far cry from cheap bar food and watered-down cocktails you find at many other places. Keep an eye out for the other acts who will be gracing this stage soon.
