Bored of the same old ''dinner and a movie'' weekend date night? Yawn. If you're looking for something a little more off-the-beaten path to do that doesn't involve bowling shoes or Bingo cards, check out three world premiere dances performed by Chicago dance company The Seldoms Feb. 19-21 at the Dance Center of Columbia College, 1306 S. Michigan Ave. The Seldoms will perform 'Thrift' by The Seldoms artistic director, Carrie Hanson, 'Whiff of Anarchy' by Darrell Jones and 'Triggers' by Liz Burritt. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19 and Friday, Feb. 20 and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21. Tickets for the evening performances range from $24-28, and matinee prices are $6 for children and $10 for adults.
After the Saturday evening performance, check out the after party fashion show featuring local designers Lara Miller, Anke Loh, Abigail Glaum-Lathbury and Moire Conroy at the Underground nightclub. Tickets to the performance plus the after party are $75 and include transportation to the Underground from the Dance Center and back, the runway fashion show, cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres. Just think of how cultured you'll feel after watching modern dance and a fashion show at one of Chicago's hottest clubs. Now that's an impressive date. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling the Dance Center of Columbia College box office at 312-369-6600.
