New Chicago Nightlife: The Zoo

When your friends told you they were going to ''the zoo,''  you paused for a second before scratching your head and asked, ''Um… Lincoln Park or Brookfield?''  Seriously – what were you thinking?  The zoo is a fun place to visit, but not so much on a Saturday night.  In fact, we'd venture to say creeping around the animal cages at night would be downright terrifying.  Your friends were more likely referring to ''The Zoo,'' the latest bar to hit the Wrigleyville neighborhood.  Housed in the former Twisted Spoke/Brody's on Clark space (and for even older-school Chicagoans, the former Texas Star Fajita Bar spot), the only thing animalistic about this zoo are animal-print accents and the behavior of the patrons by the end of the night.
But not to worry – if things get out of hand, you can always slip your pal the bar's signature cocktail – The Tranquilizer.
