Get on the Love Bus

Plus, Whiskey Week, funny food and after-work salsa

FEELING THORNY: Bret Michaels brings his Roses and Thorns Tour to Joe's Bar on Weed Street tonight. The '80s hair band vet and reality show veteran (Rock of Love, currently on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice) is releasing a new album this year, so expect some unfamiliar tunes before hearing the inevitable "Every Rose Has its Thorn." 9 p.m., 940 W. Weed St., $35

WHISKEY WEEK: There'll be plenty of $3 Jameson shots going down in pubs all over Chicago today, but the more discening whiskey drinker will want to head over to Faith & Whiskey to celebrate the kickoff of Whiskey Week. Opening night is a celebration of St. Patrick's Day with a Jameson Irish Whiskey hosted cocktail reception from 8-9 p.m. featuring the Jameson girls. Other specials include $6 40s (Colt 45, Miller Lite, Miller High Life) and $3 well drinks which will help eliminate the facade that you were actually a discerning drinker in the first place. 8 p.m., 1365 West Fullerton Ave

FUNNY FOOD: Tonight's the last chance to check out "Garden of Eatin’," a series of sketches that examine the place of food and eating in our lives with a comedic take, including raucous takes on obnoxious food channel divas, cranky waitresses, stressed out moms and young couples in culinary turmoil. The n.u.f.a.n. ensemble makes no bones about the fact that even though Chicago's celebrated for its culinary scene, at the end of the day, we're just fat. 8 p.m., Prop Theater, 3502 North Elston Ave. 773-282-0344, $10

AFTER-WORK SALSA: Work off that work stress by moving your hips at Green Dolphin's weekly salsa sessions. Check in at 7 p.m. if you want to take advantage of the salsa lessons, and then it's on for the rest of the night. If you've got serious skills, compete in the $2,000 salsa contest. This is about as far away from the beer chugging you'll get tonight. 8 p.m., 2200 N Ashland Ave, RSVP here
