Lupe Fiasco to Kick (Push) Off Dew Tour

Concert set for June 26th

It makes perfect sense that hometown hip-hop hero Lupe Fiasco will be in town the weekend to help jump start the Dew Tour's Nike 6.0 BMX Open. Fiasco will perform Friday at the Chicago Theatre.

It's all part of the  two-day event (June 26-27) that features multiple BMX competitions, including vert, dirt, and many others that likely should not be performed without proper safety equipment and years of practice. The concert has been moved to the Chicago Theatre from Grant Park -- home of the Dew Tour.

Fiasco, a Chicago native and Grammy winner, burst on the scene in the past few years with songs like "Kick Push" and "Superstar." He'll perform on June 26 at 9:30 p.m.  Ticket prices are $20 and will go on sale on June 19 at 10 a.m at the Chicago Theater box office.

Opening for Fiasco will be British MC Lady Sovereign.

Chicago is the first stop on the action sport-themed 2009 Dew Tour, which is celebrating its fifth year of showing fans some of the nation's most extreme action sports.  Last year almost 275,000 people attended the Tour's events and nearly 50 million watched it on television.

This year's Dew Tour will hit five cities across the country before finishing up in October.  Tickets are already on sale online at Ticketmaster for the Chicago event.

NBC5 and NBCChicago.com are media sponsors of the 2009 Dew Tour.
