We did have a beautiful day of 60 degree weather not that long ago, but let's face it – it's definitely not ''almost summer.'' But it will certainly feel that way at the Almost Summer Shakedown, a benefit for the A Silver Lining Foundation on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Uncle Fatty's Rum Resort (2833 N. Sheffield; 773-477-3661).
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., sip domestic beers, vodka drinks and fruity frozen beverages while playing fun summery games like bean bags and darts. You can enter a raffle to win necklaces, bikes and other prizes. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door.
The A Silver Lining Foundation, founded in 2002 by breast cancer survivor Dr. Sandy Goldberg, provides breast cancer resource information, treatment options, quality of life services and no-cost mammograms to uninsured patients.
Proceeds from this event will go to the organization's "Buy A Mom A Mammogram" program, which provides the mammograms to patients at no cost.
