Get ready to strap on your dancing shoes for the Chicago Dancing Festival

The August 20-25 event is tangoing its way into town for the 6th year in a row.

The festival, known as the “Olympics of Dance,” brings in some of the country's best dancers and choreographers for a week of free events.

Eighty dancers will perform during the festival, which will also include dance-related films and communal dancing and lessons. Events will be held at various venues around the city, including The Museum of Contemporary Art and Pritzker Pavilion in Millenium Park.

Highlights include the premiere of Bolero Chicago, the debut of the After School Matters’ Hip Hop Culture Dance Ensemble performing Touch of Soul, and three different performance showcases featuring top ballet and modern dance professionals from Chicago and across the country.

All of the events are free, but some are already sold out. Click here to reserve your spot.

And the money you'll save may provide enough justification to purchase those new pair of dancing shoes you've had your eye on.
