Beachfront Electronic Music Fest Announced

Wavefront Music Festival scheduled for June 30 - July 1 at Montrose Beach

Chicago's summer music festival lineup keeps getting more interesting.

The inaugural Wavefront Music Festival will hit Montrose Beach on June 30th and July 1st this year.

The festival has confirmed Duck Sauce and Erick Morillo as two of the headliners.

Additional artists include BoysNoize, Sasha, Chris Lake, Benoit & Sergio, Nadia Ali, Serge Devant, Matthew Dear and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, Guy Gerber, Visionquest, John Dahlback, Lee Foss, MURK, Danny Daze, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Lawler, Strip Steve, Visionquest and more. Additional artists will be released in the coming weeks via twitter.com/wavefrontfest.

Main stages will be set up on opposite ends of the beach with smaller music tents on the west side hosting emerging talent.

Former Chicago native and nightlife maven Brandon Carone of 4 Headed Productions is one of the organizers behind the event, along with Dino Gardiakos of Spybar nightclub. The group was inspired to do a beach event by last summer's World Cup Polo Tournament at North Avenue Beach.

"Electronic music keeps getting more and more popular and we felt like the time was right to bring something to Chicago that they've never seen before," Carone said.

Montrose Beach was chosen because it's one of the most accessible beaches in the city, and has more parking and boat slips than any other beach in Chicago, according to organizers.

Tickets will be available Thursday afternoon at the festival Web site.
