Okay, we get it, Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. And sure, that’s impressive and all… but aren’t we forgetting the more hilarious, boys-will-be-boys occurrence that took place that historic day in 1969?
Buzz Aldrin, you’re forever in our hearts as the very first man to pee on the moon. We’re pretty sure that warrants bragging rights for a lifetime.
But in all seriousness, as an astronaut aboard the first successful Moon landing and the second man to walk on the Moon, pioneer astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin is a man as inspiring as it gets.
Heck, it’s forty years after the landing of Apollo 11 and we’re still impressed.
Apparently, so is the Adler Planetarium, which is hosting Aldrin today at 11:30 a.m. for a one-hour visit. Following his visit to the planetarium, Aldrin will give a lecture.
Adler’s current exhibition “Shoot for the Moon” is a month-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, whose official 40-year mark was Monday.
Aldrin, who along with Neil Armstrong was one of the first humans to step foot on the Moon, will lecture with Captain Jim Lovell at Northwestern University’s Throne Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. about the early days of space exploration and the first landing on the moon.
After lecturing, Aldrin will autograph copies of his memoirs “Return to Earth” and “Magnificent Desolation.”
