A New Spot to Tilt Back a Few

Tilted Kilt franchise debuts in Chicago

A new Loop establishment is taking a different approach to a typical sports bar.

Tilted Kilted (17 North Wabash) opened this week, and the majority of the buzz surrounding the new spot is sure to focus on -- well, the kilted servers.

The waitresses are called "cast members," and the mini-kilt uniform is a registered Tilted Kilt trademark. The male bartenders also get into the act with a black kilt ensemble.

The bar itsef is reminiscent of the old public ale houses of America, England, Scotland and Ireland with dark mahogany wood touches and stained glass doors. Pool tables, dart boards and large plasma TVs also fill the large space.

The menu includes fish & chips and shepherds pie alongside items like drunken clams, meatloaf and pasta dishes.

The first Tilted Kilt opened in Vegas in 2003, but the owners hope to have more than 50 locations throughout the country by the end of the year.
