Ride Your Pony to This Party

Weekly event dubbed "The Party" debuts Friday

A local promotions group is trying to inject some new life into Chicago's party scene.

On Friday, nightlife impresarios Maxwell + Carter will unveil the first of a series of weekly events simply dubbed "The Party."

The Party will be held at The Griffin Lounge (326 W. Chicago Ave.), and will have a different theme each week that promises a unique experience.

Friday's kickoff event, "Join the Circus," features a live pony photo booth, balloons for the girls (ladies), a face-painting booth, cotton candy machine and of course, specialty cocktails and a live 4-turntable set.

According to James Brown, VP of Maxwell + Carter, their goal is to keep their guests entertained for "every minute of their experience."

"As just one example, each week we will have a karaoke DJ outside the bathrooms, so our guests can belt out their favorite songs while waiting in line," Brown said. "We aren't looking for shock value -- we are simply filling a niche in the industry by getting back to the basics, focusing on the customer experience and infusing a fresh energy into the city's nightlife scene."

Future parties include a disco-themed event on the 13th called "DISCOver Uranus," and our personal favorite, the "First Day of Spring Cleaning Party" on the 20th, where guests are encouraged to donate their "finest" Ed Hardy, Affliction and other unstylish apparel for free admission and a drink. The last party of the month will be in 3D, with glasses given to guests at the door and 3D projections and imaging all night in the lounge.

Brown says the cover will vary, but usually there won't be one unless it's a special event. Guests are encouraged to RSVP at vip@maxwellandcarter.com.
