GOOD WOOD: The Cedar Hotel, that anxiously awaited watering hole taking over the beloved Cactus and Melvin B's spots (including the coveted outdoor patios!), opens today. Catering to the Gold Coast brethren who made these places infamous, the new owners (from Manor, RiNo and The Fifty/50) won't mess with the simple charms found here -- meaning beer and bar fare, like burgers, ahi tuna sliders, and eventually seafood specialties like lobster cocktails.
T.G.I.F.: Celebrate the start of the weekend at Clybar and Grille, the popular Lincoln Park hangout under new management. Tonight's "Frisky Friday" promotion includes Bud Light drafts, well drinks, house wine and a buffet for $20 from 6-10 p.m. DJ Ricky Bradshaw keeps things poppin'.
DO SOMETHING CRAZY: Asher Roth, of "I Love College" fame, will be performing this evening from 5-6 p.m. at Lollapalooza, and then again at an official after-party at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville with Chicago's own Hollywood Holt DJing. 10 p.m., free.
