Indiana has confirmed its first case of the omicron variant, state officials announced Sunday.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Wednesday that new data show booster shots of COVID-19 vaccines offer protection against the omicron variant and there is no current need to reformulate shots for variant-specific boosters.

Indiana increased coronavirus vaccine eligibility Saturday to residents age 40 and older beginning next week, health officials announced.
