Split Speak: Heidi Montag is finally talking about her split from husband, Spencer Pratt. "I needed some alone time," Montag exclusively told People. "There are so many lies out there about me and I just needed space, even away from my husband." Montag confirmed reports she moved out of the couple's California home. She says she plans to spend the summer clearing her head and getting in some much needed girl time with pal and new roommate Jen Bunney. Oh, and don't worry...it's all being filmed as part of a new reality show they are shooting. As for the future, Heidi says she's always loved Spencer, but they need to work on things for now.
Calling It Quits: After 40 years of marriage, Al and Tipper Gore are going their separate ways. "After a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate. This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together," the Gores wrote in an e-mail to friends Tuesday. A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the statement to the Associated Press but declined to give any more details. Two longtime associates say the Gores told friends they "grew apart" after four decades of marriage.
Drinking Death: The 40-year-old son of TV newsman Ted Koppel dies after a daylong drinking binge in New York City. Authorities found Andrew Koppel unconscious in an apartment in the early hours of Monday morning, the New York Post reports. Koppel reportedly began drinking around noon at a bar where he befriended a waiter. The two drank until 11 p.m. "Our son, Andrew, was a brilliant, caring man, whose loss we will mourn for the rest of our lives," Ted Koppel and his wife said in a statement. Andrew was the third of the couple's four children.
Jail Time: Looks like Charlie Sheen will serve some jail time as part of a plea deal for that Christmas Day assault on wife, Brooke Mueller. TMZ reports that Sheen will head to Aspen on Monday, enter a no contest plea to 3rd degree assault and immediately start serving 30 days in jail. A felony charge against him will be dismissed.
