  • A Muslim woman living in France was banned from her local pool because she was sporting a head-to-toe "burquini." Officials in France, where the secular and religious often clash, said the swimsuit did not meet the hygiene standards at public pools, and that the woman was not banned for wearing Islam-friendly clothing.
     
  • The host of a crime show on Brazilian TV has been charged with drug trafficking and arranging killings to give his ratings a boost. Wallace Souza denied that he ordered killings then alerted TV crews so they'd be first on the scene. Cops think Souza created a "death squad" that is responsible for five slayings.
     
  • TV's longest running soap opera, the "Guiding Light," has finished shooting its final scenes. The show ran for 72 years and began as a radio show in 1937. The final show, which was filmed in a New Jersey church, will air on Sept. 18.
     
  • NASA doesn't have enough money to look out for asteroids that are on a collision course with Earth, according to a government report. Congress gave the agency the responsibility four years ago but never gave NASA the funds to build the proper equipment to fulfill the mission. The order required NASA to spot 90 percent of the asteroids by 2020.
