Doped Driver Asks 911 for Police Escort

Don't smoke and drive, at least not with your cell phone in hand

A 20-year-old Jacksonville, Fla., man may want to put his cell phone aside next time he tokes up.

Michael Kruse dialed 911 as he was driving around on June 21 and told the dispatcher that he didn't feel well.

His slurred speech made it difficult for the operator to understand what he was saying, but when the woman tried to clarify with the driver, things took an uncomfortable turn.

"Are you sure you haven't taken something, sir? Because you're not making a whole lot of sense," the dispatcher said.

"I've been smoking marijuana," Kruse told her.  That was a mistake.  Sheriff's deputies located Kruse, pulled him over and took him home, letting him off with just a strong talking to.

Hours later, on June 22, Kruse called 911 again.

This time he asked the dispatcher for a police escort to Miami.  Apparently he was running late for a Lil' Wayne concert and wanted to get there as quickly as possible.

"Or, you have a helicopter?" he asked.   The dispatcher was not amused.

"Well, I'm driving there right now. I just wanted the fastest way to get there. I didn't want to get pulled over on the highway," Kruse explained.

He then was pulled over. Then arrested and charged with misuse of 911.
