Whitney Young Football Makes Incredible Return With Big Win

The Dolphins romped to a huge win Saturday, one year after the team was disbanded

A Chicago magnet school brought back its football program after abruptly scrapping the sport a year ago, and the comeback was a triumphant one Saturday as the team stomped its way to victory.

The school scored a 49-0 victory in its first game back on Saturday, and making the triumph even more remarkable is the fact that over half of the team’s players barely had any football experience before this season.

“We’ve been putting hard work in day in and day out,” player Miles Wagner said.

Just a year ago, injuries and academic eligibility issues forced Principal Dr. Joyce Kenner to shutter the program when enrollment fell to just 19 players.

Today, there are 35 on the field, and 22 of them had little-to-no experience before hitting the gridiron this season.

“I was determined to bring football back in the way that we brought it back and to show the public that hey, we are going to be a contender in the next couple of years,” Dr. Kenner said.

Next up on the docket for the Dolphins is a showdown with Bogan, but before they hit the field again, the school will host a fundraiser to bring in some much-needed assistance for the newly re-formed team.
