Team USA's Hannah Roberts finished in second place to claim the silver medal in BMX Freestyle Park

History was made as Olympics' exciting new sport, BMX Freestyle Park, handed out its first Olympic medals.

Hannah Roberts finished second to claim the first-ever Olympic silver medal despite being a heavy favorite to win it all. She finished with 96.10 points behind Great Britain’s Charlotte Worthington, who took gold with 97.50 points.

Team USA's Hannah Roberts won the silver medal in the first-ever Olympic BMX freestyle park final with a score of 96.10.

Switzerland's Nikita Ducarroz finished third with 89.20 points to claim the bronze.

For the men, Australia's reigning men’s world champion Logan Martin claimed gold finishing with 93.30 points.

Both Americans - Nick Bruce and Justin Dowell - finished out of medal contention. Bruce was unable to take his second turn due to injury, and Dowell fell on his second run.

Daniel Dhers of Venezuela took silver and Great Britain's Declan Brooks finished third with 90.80 points to claim bronze.
