Stanley Cup Back in Chicago After Typo Corrected

Original engraving had Kris Versteeg's name misspelled

The Stanley Cup arrived back in Chicago from Montreal Tuesday morning after being engraved with the names of the players, coaches and front office personnel of the 2010 Blackhawks.

A bit of trivia: the name of right winger Kris Versteeg was originally misspelled on the championship trophy, the Toronto Star reported.

A modification was made to correct the transposition of the "s" and "t" in his last name.

"It’s kind of funny. I may never be one of the biggest names in the game but now it’ll go down in history as one of the misspells on the Stanley Cup so I’ll take it," said Versteeg, who was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs from the champs during the off-season.

Versteeg said he and his family noticed several typos on the Cup earlier this summer.  He said his brother predicted that the name Versteeg would be among those misspelled.

The Cup will remain in the Chicago area Tuesday, visiting two youth hockey rinks.
