Wintrust Arena, which was first announced in March 2013, will open to the public this November. The estimated cost of construction was nearly $175 million, with just over $100 million coming from public funds.

The arena, which will be operated by the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, will host its first basketball game on November 11 when the DePaul Blue Demons welcome the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the new facility.
While Allstate Arena, DePaul's home from 1980-2016, was a long commute for students, the new arena is in a public transit-friendly location, just blocks from Green and Red Line stops.

It is estimated that the arena, which will house both DePaul's men's and women's basketball teams, will host more than 60 events per year, including games and concerts.

The new arena will seat approximately 10,500 people for basketball games, about 7500 fewer people than Allstate Arena. The concert capacity for the arena will be around 17,000.
