Leddy Takes Stanley Cup to the Twin Cities

Defenseman played one season for the Gophers after leaving Eden Prairie High School

The Stanley Cup on Thursday went to the Twin Cities.

Specificially, it traveled to Eden Prairie, the southwest suburb where Nick Leddy is from. The 22-year-old defenseman helped the Chicago Blackhawks win the NHL title last month, and per pro hockey's tradition each player on the championship squad gets to take the Stanley Cup with him to his hometown for a summer visit.

The 120-year-old silver trophy has the names of everyone from the winning team engraved on it.

Leddy's itinerary has stops with the trophy at bars and restaurants around the Twin Cities, plus visits on Friday to the Eden Prairie Community Center and Mariucci Arena.
