Yolmer Sánchez goes to Orioles on waiver claim originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Yolmer Sánchez is on the move.
The slick-fielding infielder was claimed on waivers by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, the White Sox informed.
Sánchez, who spent his entire pro career prior to the 2020 season with the White Sox, returned to the South Side in the middle of the 2020 campaign after not making the San Francisco Giants' big league roster.

Despite appearing in only 11 games for the White Sox after making his return to the organization, he turned in a couple memorable moments, homering off Cleveland Indians starter Zach Plesac and pitching in a game against the Crosstown-rival Cubs.
Sánchez is known for his defensive prowess, winning a Gold Glove for his work at second base for the White Sox in 2019. His versatility on the infield makes him a valuable reserve.
But the attribute that turned Sánchez into a fan favorite on the South Side is his fun-loving personality, most memorably displayed via his antics with buckets full of Gatorade during postgame celebrations.
The White Sox are obviously set when it comes to starters on the infield, with Nick Madrigal, Tim Anderson and Yoán Moncada manning second base, shortstop and third base, respectively. Reserve infielder Danny Mendick flashed his own leather this season and was named a Gold Glove finalist at second base last week. The White Sox added some infield depth with their first move of the offseason Thursday, bringing aboard former No. 1 overall draft pick Tim Beckham on a minor league deal.
Considering how he made his way back to the White Sox in 2020, it's possible we won't ever be able to truly close the book on Sánchez's time with the team. But he's off to Maryland for now.
