Kopech has sore hamstring, day-to-day after falling on mound originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Michael Kopech is day-to-day after hobbling off the field during Wednesday's game.
Chicago White Sox fans held their breath after the fireballing right-hander took an awkward-looking fall on the mound when he delivered the final pitch of the top of the seventh inning and proceeded to limp off the field and into the dugout.

After the game, the team provided an update that Kopech was dealing with soreness in his left hamstring.
Just prior to that update, the White Sox hoped for the best for Kopech, who's having an excellent 2021 season after missing the entirety of the previous two campaigns.
"We'll keep our fingers crossed it's something that's not serious, severe," White Sox manager Tony La Russa said. "I'm waiting to hear just like you guys are. ... Anxious to hear."
"I’m not sure what happened on that play," White Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal said. "I’m hoping that it’s nothing serious at all."
Obviously the White Sox are all too familiar with bad injury news involving their young stars. Starting outfielders and middle-of-the-order bats Eloy Jiménez and Luis Robert remain on the shelf and will for months while they recover from their respective significant injuries.
The team can't afford another, especially to someone who's been one of its best pitchers this season. Kopech, pitching as a multi-inning relief weapon and spot starter, has a 1.72 ERA on the year, providing glimpses of futures in which he's deployed as a dominant bullpen arm come playoff time and a dominant starting pitcher in seasons to come.
Kopech is finally delivering on the hype that accompanied him into the major leagues, his immediate arrival derailed by the injury that necessitated Tommy John surgery and wiped out his 2019 season.
It remains to be seen if Wednesday's injury will provide another interruption of any kind.
