White Sox' Luis Robert to Transfer to Class AAA Charlotte

Sox' Luis Robert to transfer to Class AAA Charlotte originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Luis Robert is one step closer to returning to the Chicago White Sox' lineup.

Robert began his rehab stint a week ago with Class A Winston-Salem. In 12 at-bats Robert had three hits and three RBIs.

And now Robert is being transferred to Class AAA Charlotte.

Robert suffered a Grade 3 right hip flexor strain in early May and there were initial fears he could miss the entire season. Fortunately, Robert avoided surgery.

While teams are exploring trade deadline moves to bolster rosters for divisional races and postseason runs, the White Sox are getting two big bats returning to the lineup.

"When we get Eloy (Jiménez) and Robert back, I think they'll help us put it into another gear," White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson told a week ago. "I think there's more."

Jiménez rejoined the White Sox on Monday in Kansas City and went 0-for-4 in his season debut, blaming it on his excitement. Jiménez did say he felt good and that the timing was there.

"I was a little extra excited," he said after the game, a 4-3 loss to the Royals.

While Jiménez offers a big bat to the lineup, Robert brings a big bat, Gold Glove defense in center field and speed on the base paths.
