No Mention of Russell Wilson in Seattle Seahawks Letter to Fans

Seahawks suspiciously leave Wilson out of letter to fans originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Twitter detectives have another clue that points towards a split between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. In a letter addressed to season ticket holders, the Seahawks curiously omitted any mention of their franchise quarterback.

It’s not like the Seahawks opted not to single out their stars, either. The letter mentions D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jamal Adams, and Jordyn Brooks by name, and even includes coaches Pete Carroll, Shane Waldron, Andy Dickerson, and GM John Schneider.

Further, the team mentioned Metcalf and Lockett’s record-breaking seasons, but completely ignored that Wilson set a few team records himself in 2020 (most passing TDs in a season, highest completion percentage in a season, and most total completions in a season).

“Through this past year we’ve all learned it’s tough to predict what the future will hold,” Seahawks president wrote in the letter. That line was meant to point out the uncertainties of playing football in the middle of a pandemic, but it works when looking towards any possible trades this offseason too. There’s been no report that the relationship between the Seahawks and Wilson has deteriorated to the point that Wilson has formally requested a trade. But we do know that Seattle is unhappy with how this drama has been dragged into the public spotlight, and Dianna Russini reported last week that Schneider is actually answering the phone when teams call about a possible Wilson trade.

It’s far from a foregone conclusion that the Seahawks move Wilson before the 2021 season, but it seems every week another clue points to Wilson and Seattle eventually splitting.
