NBA Announces Makeup Dates for Bulls' Postponed Games

NBA announces makeup dates for Bulls' postponed games originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

On Monday, the NBA announced new dates for five Chicago Bulls games — three of which were previously postponed, two of which are upcoming.

Here is a summary of those changes:

  • Bulls vs. Detroit Pistons: Jan. 11, 7 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for Dec. 14)
  • Bulls at Oklahoma City Thunder: Jan. 24, 7 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for Jan. 26)
  • Bulls vs. Toronto Raptors: Jan. 26, 7 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for Dec. 22)
  • Bulls at Toronto Raptors: Feb. 3, 6:30 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for Dec. 16)
  • Bulls at Atlanta Hawks: March 3, 6 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for Jan. 24)

The Bulls' home game against the Pistons and road game against the Raptors were the NBA's first two postponements of the 2021-22 season. Both were necessitated by the Bulls' COVID-19 outbreak that spanned from early to mid-December.

The Bulls' postponed home game against the Raptors, however, was necessitated by an outbreak within Toronto.

The Thunder and Hawks games are likely being moved due to the league's broader schedule shuffling. Though only five affect the Bulls, the NBA announced 21 schedule changes on Monday:

From a Bulls perspective, those changes create a home-home back-to-back against the Pistons and Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 11 and 12; a road-road back-to-back against the Magic and Thunder on Jan. 23 and 24; a road-road back-to-back against the Raptors and Pacers on Feb. 3 and 4; and a road-home back-to-back against the Hawks and Bucks on March 3 and 4.

In all, that adds three back-to-backs to the Bulls' schedule which did not previously exist.

It also breaks up what was originally a five-game road trip at the end of January. Now, the Bulls visit the Bucks on Jan. 21, the Magic on Jan. 23 and the Thunder on Jan. 24, then swing home for the Raptors on Jan. 26, then jet to San Antonio to face the Spurs on Jan. 28.

Originally, that Magic-Thunder back-to-back was going to feature the Magic and Hawks, with a trip to Oklahoma City scheduled for Jan. 26 and San Antonio scheduled for Jan. 28.

The NBA has postponed 11 games this season due to COVID-19 complications as of this writing. For now, all of them have been rescheduled.
