Major League Baseball has canceled additional spring training games as the league's lockout of the players continues.

MLB, which canceled the first week of exhibition games last week, announced Friday an additional three games have been canceled: March 5-7.

The exhibition slate will start no earlier than March 8.

The cancellations come amid ongoing labor negotiations between MLB and the players union. The two sides have met every day this week.

While MLB could lift the lockout to open camps and start the season on time, it has set Monday as a deadline for an agreement. Otherwise, the league said it will begin canceling regular season games.

Opening Day is scheduled for March 31.

Commissioner Rob Manfred joined negotiations on site in Florida for the first time this week Friday. Manfred met with union executive director Tony Clark one-on-one, according to multiple reports.

The league and union are set to continue negotiations on Saturday — the original scheduled start to Cactus and Grapefruit League play.
