Matt Nagy Announces Bears Will Start Mitch Trubisky Against Packers

Bears will start Mitch Trubisky against Packers originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

The "mystery" is over: Mitch Trubisky will be the Bears’ starting quarterback this Sunday night in Green Bay.

Talking with Chicago media on Friday afternoon, Matt Nagy announced the decision.

"Yeah, Mitch is going to be our starter," he said. "He's starting for Green Bay."

It’ll be Trubisky’s first start since the Bears’ Week 3 win in Atlanta. Before being benched for Nick Foles midway through the third quarter, Trubisky was completing 60 percent of his passes for 560 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions (54.6 QBR). In the seven games after, Foles completed 65 percent of his passes for 1852 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions (44.3 QBR).

Nagy wouldn’t comment, however, on whether the switch is permanent. Both QBs are working to come back from injuries, as Turbisky hurt his right shoulder on a designed run play during the Week 8 loss against the Saints, and Foles is still recovering from a hip pointer he suffered in the final moments of the Week 10 loss to Minnesota. For what it’s worth, the Bears once again protected practice squad quarterback Tyler Bray this week, a sign that he’ll be on the active roster Sunday night.
