Kris Bryant, Willson Contreras Lead Cubs' Home Run Show Vs. Braves

Watch: Cubs crush 6 home runs in six innings vs. Braves originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

If you've been waiting for the Cubs offense to break out of its winter hibernation, Saturday was the game for you.

The Cubs' bats woke up with a season-best performance after an abysmal first 13 games. The North Siders scored 13 times in the first six innings, thanks to a whopping six home runs.

Catcher Willson Contreras got things started with a solo home run in the first inning, adding another one in the third. It's his third straight game with a home run and the ninth multi-homer game of his career.

Shortstop Javy Báez followed Contreras in the third, sending a three-run blast to the left field bleachers to make it 6-0. Báez' blast pushed the Cubs over five runs for the first time this season.

Kris Bryant hit his first of two homers in the fifth, adding another in the sixth. Bryant is up to five home runs this season after hitting four in 2020.

David Bote also hit one in the fifth.

Add it all up, and you have a 13-1 Cubs lead and a home blowout.

Happy Saturday, indeed, Cubs fans.
